Made of Honour

Once again, The year starts off with a new name - 2009.
The economy is doomed.
Everyone's losing their job.
A black man finally becomes the president of America...
and Royce starts his Honours in Advertising.

Even though it says 'graduated with distinction' on the Advertising degree that I received last year, I still feel I've gotten into something way over my head. Enrolling into Honours is not my first option; and phrases such as "harder than Masters or PH.D" don't help either.

Transported here from Malaysia ( located above Singapore for the clueless) a year and a half before, I've learnt that I have a knack for presentations and group work. Therefore you can understand how Honours seems like such a OMG-daunting-as-hell one year research project.

Having said that, I do look forward to self-discovery whilst completing this. Hopefully the year's work will seem like a roadmap, where I would've subconsciously mapped out the landmarks of my being.

MAN! my first anniversary of my 21st birthday can't get anymore annoying!

The Evolving Urban City: Thriving Kuala Lumpur

The Evolving Urban Form: Kuala Lumpur A very well researched and presented article written by Wendell Cox 01/12/2013 It has very comprehensive graphs on the growth of Kuala Lumpur city, particularly useful for property investors that are seeking to understand geographical influences in property buying. I am currently writing an article for Mah Sing which aims to explain their purpose behind developments in the outer suburbs or outskirts of Greater KL. Finally moving towards a nation with progressive planning, I am glad that the fabled Wawasan 2020 may have achieved its influence in the minds of Malaysians.

Science of Sleep - Lessons of Royce

The speaker is also known as a sleep doctor, or sleep specialist, which can also be your GP or Ear, Nose & Throat specialist. There is also the American Board of Sleep Medicine - http://absm.org/  to understand a collective of Sleep scholars. R.E.M - Rapid Eye Movement There are 5 stages of REM sleep and we begin our sleep by entering heavier, uninterrupted sleep at the start and progress into longer alternating intervals of light REM sleep and Deep (Non-REM sleep). TOOLS OF THE TRADE (PSG) http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/guide/polysomnogram EEG   (electroencephalogram) to measure and record  brain  wave activity EMG  (electromyogram) to record muscle activity such as face  twitches ,  teeth  grinding, and leg movements; i...

How to write a Media Plan

Taken from Wikipedia Components of a media plan Define the marketing problem. Where is the business coming from and where is the potential for increased business? Does the ad need to reach everybody or only a select group of consumers? How often is the product used? How much product loyalty exists? Translate the marketing requirements into media objectives. Must the ad reach people in a wide area? Then mass media, like newspaper and radio, might work. If the target market is a select group in a defined geographic area, then direct mail could be best. Define a media solution by formulating media strategies. For example, the rule of thumb is that a print ad must run three times before it gets noticed. Radio advertising is most effective when run at certain times of the day or around certain programs, depending on what market is being reached. Advertising media includes Television ( TVC, television commercial) Radio Newspapers Magazines (consumer and trade) Outdoor bil...
